Anika Noni Rose, an American performer and actress. Her best-known role is as Tiana, Disney's first African American princess. Disney Legends named her as one in 2011. Rose appeared as Lorrell Robertson in Dreamgirls and was awarded the Academy Award. Anika Noni Rose (born September 6 1972) is an American actress and singer. Most famously, she is known for playing Tiana the first Disney African-American princess as she appeared in The Princess and the Frog (2009). In 2011, she was honored as an Disney Legend. The same year, she was recognized by her part on the screen in Dreamgirls (2006) in which she earned the Academy Award for Best Picture. In the Starz show Power she played LaVerne Jukebox Ganner. Alongside her acting work, she's well-known for her roles played in the theater.
